Position Details:
Summary of Duties: Located in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, this position contributes to the fulfillment of the university's mission and vision by providing support to the Zhu lab in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The laboratory focuses on aging and cancer research while utilizing various cell culture and molecular biology techniques, and animal experiments. This position conducts research on human aging, cancer, and age-related degenerative diseases using biochemical, molecular, and cellular biology techniques. This position carries out experiments in cell culture and pre-clinical animal models under the direction of the principal investigator. This position also provides general support to ensure the laboratory operates safely, smoothly, and efficiently. Duties include maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, and managing animal colonies.
Essential Duties:
Laboratory Research - 70%
Laboratory Maintenance - 25%
Other - 5%
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing professional-level work with scientific or clinical research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; interviewing experience; excellent organizational and project management skills.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or pharmacology.
Ability to train in cell and molecular biology techniques and animal handling skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team player.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with tissue culture, general molecular biology techniques and experimental mouse handling.
Knowledge and/or experience in cell and molecular biology.
Capability of ordering and maintaining lab inventory.

Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end one year after the start date. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
