With more than 150 pharmacists at five different campus locations, we provide Pharmacy Services 24 hours a day to patients at Lee Health. Our Pharmacy mission statement is "Optimizing patient outcomes through interdisciplinary medication management". We have five acute care hospitals as part of our health-system with over 1,400 beds; Cape Coral Hospital, Gulf Coast Medical Center, HealthPark Medical Center, Golisanos Children Hospital of SW Florida, and Lee Memorial Hospital. Our pharmacists are also providing care for our patients in the community at our five Lee Pharmacy outpatient pharmacies, a Regional Cancer Center, a Home Infusion service, a Health Plan pharmacy, a Transition of Care Clinic and a Family Medicine Clinic. Within our Lee Pharmacies we have an established Meds to Beds Program as well as a COPD Pharmacist.
Pharmacists are involved in interdisciplinary team rounds in the ICUs, as well as progression of care rounds on medical units. Our pharmacy practice model is a hybrid model with Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Pediatric, Oncology, and Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialists supporting our Decentralized Unit Based pharmacists. Our four Emergenc...y Department have Emergency Medicine Pharmacists and all of our pharmacists participate in the care of our patients during Code Blue and Code Strokes.
Our pharmacists are key members on the Lee Health Medication Safety Committee, Institutional Review Committee, and the Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee. Our pharmacists provide kinetics services, nutritional support services, antimicrobial stewardship services, an anticoagulation dosing service and provide medication education to our patients. Lee Health serves as a clinical clerkship site for in state and out of state colleges of pharmacy. Many members of our pharmacy staff are actively involved in and hold leadership positions in regional, state and national pharmacy associations such as FSHP and ASHP.
In addition to the PGY1 Residency Program started in 2008, Lee Health also has PGY2 Residency Programs in the specialty areas of Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, Pediatrics and Health System Pharmacy Administration. In 2020-21 we started a PGY1 Community Based Residency Program.
