Centerpoint Medical Center first opened in 2007 in Independence, Missouri. Centerpoint has 285 licensed beds and provides comprehensive care to patients in the Jackson County and surrounding areas. Centerpoint offers a wide variety of services including Level II Trauma Center with 2 dedicated- trauma suites, diverse surgical services, including cardiothoracic surgery, gynecologic surgery, orthopedic surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, robotic surgery, urological surgery, and bariatric surgery. We also have a Joint Commission Certified Chest Pain center with 5 CV labs, Women’s Services with a 12-bed level IIIb NICU, Joint Commission Accredited Total Joint Program, Joint Commission Accredited Primary Stroke Center, and an Acute Rehab unit. Our 28-bed adult intensive care unit is staffed 24/7 by an Intensivist team and a 24/7 emergency room.
The Sarah Cannon Cancer Center is located on Centerpoint’s campus and consists of a 20-bed infusion center for chemotherapy administration and a hematology/oncology clinic. There is a satellite pharmacy located in the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center that is staffed Monday through Friday by Clinical Pharmacy Specialists.
Pharmacy PGY1 Residency Program Purpose:
Centerpoint Medical Centers PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
Goals
This Pharmacy Residency Program is a comprehensive program that emphasizes the development of advanced pharmaceutical care. After an initial orientation to the department, the resident begins a series of concentrated and longitudinal learning activities designed to meet the goals and objectives of the Centerpoint Medical Center residency program. The program aims to develop the resident into a competent and confident practitioner in:
Comprehensive patient care
Advancing practice and improving patient outcomes
Leadership and management
Teaching, education, and the dissemination of knowledge
Length of Program: 12 months (June 26, 2023 to June 28, 2024)
Candidate Requirements
S. citizenship or permanent resident
Due to CMS Mandate, all residents will be required to receive or have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (proof of vaccination required) or have an approved medical or religious exemption.
Graduates or candidates for graduation of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program (or one in process of pursuing accreditation) or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP)
Achieve Missouri pharmacist license within 90 days of beginning of residency year. Resident MUST have exam scheduled (prefer to have exam already taken) prior to starting program on June 26, 2023
