Summary of Duties:
The laboratory of Dr. Zhaokang Cheng in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Washington State University in Spokane, WA invites applications for a temporary full-time, non-tenure-track position, 12 month appointment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The major focus of our research program is to identify novel mechanisms of cell death (apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagy-associated cell death) in heart diseases such as myocardial infarction and anthracycline cardiomyopathy. Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have a recent PhD degree in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology or a closely related field prior to the hire date.
Successful candidates should have significant biomedical research experience as demonstrated by first-author publication(s) in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals.
Required technical skills include cell culture, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, quantitative RT-PCR, and animal models of human disease.
Candidates are expected to be self-motivated, work independently, and have strong scientific English language skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge in cardiovascular biology and pathophysiology.

Annual Salary: $52,743.00 - $61,992.00; commensurate with qualifications and experience.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

FTE: 100% Permanent/Temporary: This is a temporary position expected to end on June 30, 2024. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Screening Begin Date:Immediately; the position will remain open until filled.
