This Safeway Pharmacy/University of Maryland Program is based in Bowie Maryland, close to Washington DC and Baltimore, both famous for their history, sports, food, and culture. Our Safeway Pharmacy leadership work closely with state, local, and national pharmacy organizations to advance pharmacy practice. Our pharmacists can prescribe a growing list of medications, immunizations, perform health screenings, and work as a member of the healthcare team to manage patient disease states.
The residents are each assigned a home-base community pharmacy site where approximately 40% of their time is spent. The Rockville, MD and Parkville, MD community sites have dedicated teams of experienced preceptors to mentor the residents through the year. Leadership and management learning experiences take place at the Bowie Division office.
Our advanced community-based patient care learning experiences are supplemented with ambulatory care-based patient care at the clinics and medical centers affiliated with the University of Maryland. Through our partnership with the University of Maryland, the residents participate in a teaching certificate program, and perform research in affiliation with the University.
Our advanced community-based patient care learning experiences are supplemented with medication administration, HIV care/prevention, and hormonal contraceptive prescribing opportunities. The residents will provide patient care services, attend group meetings and community outreaches within their respective district of stores. Routine responsibilities include patient counseling, disease state management and immunization services.
Pharm.D. degree and licensure in state of residency required. Official academic transcript, CV, letter of intent, and three letters of recommendation submitted to PhORCAS.
