The Department of Biological Chemistry delves into the secrets of the body at the molecular level, researching mechanisms underlying all fundamental biological processes. BC students learn from experts in such varied fields as biochemistry, immunology, structural biology and virology. Provides oversight and laboratory management for a laboratory involved in basic and translational research. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the individual designs, directs and performs independent and innovative research projects involving generating large-scale animal cohorts. The incumbent also investigates and develops new methodologies, resolves scientific problems, advises other lab personnel, conducts data analysis, prepares results for publication, contributes to the preparation of lab regulatory documents, is the lab safety officer and performs other administrative tasks (such as ordering and shipping).

Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry, Pharmacy, or related field, plus 10-15 years of related laboratory and management experience.
Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Computer skills include Word, PowerPoint, Imaris, Excel, and GraphPad Prism. Demonstrated experience managing a research lab. Experienced at effectively training personnel working in research lab.
Ability to define problems, identify relevant factors, develop innovative techniques to solve research problems, compile data and make recommendations. Experience managing multiple research projects.
Preferred:
Terminal degree in a related field preferred (PhD, JD, MD, etc.).
