Banner Health’s PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency builds on the PharmD education and PGY1 experience to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in ambulatory care. The residency provides the opportunity for independent practice, incorporating accumulated experience and knowledge into the provision of patient care. Based at Banner University Medical Center Internal and Family Medicine Clinics in Phoenix, the PGY2 resident will work alongside medical residents for a collaborative learning experience while working under collaborative drug therapy management protocols to provide direct patient care. Additional opportunities include drug therapy management within Banner Medical Group clinics, population health, telemedicine, and specialty pharmacy.
PGY2 Critical Care Residency - Phoenix, AZ
The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix builds on the resident’s education and PGY1 experience to train highly qualified individuals for a clinical position in critical care. The resident will have a multitude of opportunities and experiences including direct patient care, research, teaching, and precepting. The primary responsibility of the resident will be providing high quality, evidence-based care in a patient centered approach. Clinical duties include multidisciplinary rounding, documentation of clinical activities, providing medication therapy and monitoring recommendations during rounds, formal and informal consultation, and management of medication therapy per established polices and protocols. Required experiences are six weeks in length and include medical ICU, trauma/surgical ICU, cardiovascular ICU, neurological ICU, and emergency medicine. Available four-week electives include advanced repeat ICU, abdominal transplant, advanced heart failure/heart transplant, toxicology, infectious diseases, administration, and investigation drug services. Residents will practice in a large, tertiary academic medical center with 755 beds including over 130 ICU beds.
PGY2 Medication-Use Safety and Policy - Phoenix, AZ
The Medication-Use Safety and Policy Pharmacy PGY 2 Residency expands the new pharmacy practitioners baseline knowledge in formulary management, clinical program development, medication safety, and policy and procedural development. The PGY-2 resident will work closely with the system clinical pharmacy team to enhance the safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medications across the continuum. The resident will be actively involved in assessing policies, formulary management, and safety events at over 30 hospitals, 200 clinics, 50 urgent cares.
PGY2 Oncology: Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center – Gilbert, AZ
The primary purpose of this PGY2 Oncology Residency is to train the resident to become a confident and well-rounded clinical oncology pharmacy specialist. Upon completion the practitioner will have the clinical skills to work in the acute or ambulatory care setting and be prepared for the board certification exam. Required rotations include: hematology, stem cell transplant, breast, lung, GI, and GU oncology with elective and longitudinal learning experiences.
