The PGY2 Emergency Medicine (EM) Pharmacy Residency Program at CaroMont Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is a 12-month learning experience which strives to inspire and promote professional growth within the EM specialty through focusing the majority of rotations in the Emergency Department (ED) and allowing for independent practice with preceptor oversight. Following the completion of residency, the pharmacist will be recognized as a board certification-eligible EM pharmacy clinician that provides evidence-based drug therapy management who is capable of establishing and advancing EM pharmacy practice.
The ED at CRMC is a 65-bed, Level 3 trauma center accommodating approximately 115,000 patient visits annually. The department includes designated areas for pediatric, pediatric psychiatry, and adult psychiatry patients. Clinical pharmacy services are provided by a decentralized emergency medicine pharmacist 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The ED utilizes a bedside bar-coded drug administration system in combination with nearly 100% prospective pharmacy order verification to provide the highest quality care to our ED patients. CRMC is accredited by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care as a Chest Pain Center and is a recognized Primary Stroke Center. In addition to CRMC, CRMC - Mount Holly is a 14-bed free-standing Emergency Department located 10 miles northeast of the main medical center which also provides emergency medicine clinical pharmacy services.
