The Post-Graduate Year One (PGY-1) Pharmacy Residency Program at Cheyenne Regional is a 12-month program.
PGY1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.

Elective learning experiences
The elective learning experiences will be scheduled to occur towards the end of the residency year once the resident has successfully completed the majority of the required learning experiences and has shown the ability to work independently.
Possible opportunities for elective learning experiences will be discussed with each resident at the beginning of the residency year and will be selected based on the resident’s interest and career goals.

Staffing responsibilities
The resident is required to fulfill the pharmaceutical service commitment (staffing) designed to ensure they gain experience and can function as a competent clinical practitioner. The resident will be required to work every third weekend (two 8-hour shifts) plus participate in the holiday rotation (one summer holiday, one winter holiday and New Year’s Day).
Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy
Licensure or eligibility for Pharmacist licensure in Wyoming

Pharmacist licensure
Licensure in the state of Wyoming is a requirement of the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center residency program and is to be completed within 90 days of the start of the residency program.
The licensure process can take 6-8 weeks so the resident is encouraged to apply as early as possible.
