University Medical Center New Orleans PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is a 12-month program designed to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education, preparing clinical pharmacists for advanced patient care responsibilities across diverse conditions and settings. This program develops pharmacists to become highly skilled independent practitioners, capable of delivering comprehensive medication-related care, engaging in medication education, and taking on leadership roles within the pharmacy profession. Graduates will be well-prepared for board certification and further postgraduate training, including eligibility for PGY2 pharmacy residency programs.

To be eligible for one of University Medical Center's residency positions, applicants must:
Graduate from ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program
Meet requirements for employment at University Medical Center New Orleans
Be eligible for Louisiana Pharmacist licensure

Letter of intent that includes why you chose to apply to the residency program
Curriculum vitae
Three letters of recommendation – a minimum of one of your three references should come from a preceptor who you have worked with in a clinical setting, related to an APPE in acute or ambulatory care. The clinical preceptor should be able to comment on your scope of responsibility, total patient load, level of autonomy, clinical abilities, and organizational and time management skills.
