Acts as a general accounting liaison for Patient Accounts Administration. Prepares recommendations and financial models to assist the organization in improving Medical Center general accounting recording and reporting. The Patient Accounts Administration department reports to the Executive Director, Revenue Cycle. This position is primarily responsible for, but not limed to, the reconciliation of the daily, weekly and monthly payments. This position will ensure reconciliation is performed in a timely manner in accordance with UC Policy and Internal Control Policies. The reconciliation report of these payments must be done at the detail level, meaning to the actual patients account in comparison to the deposit and the accounts receivable ledger for each area.
Under direction, performs complex professional accounting and financial duties for the Health System. Plan, develop and coordinate complex professional financial analysis in a highly independent manner and have a comprehensive knowledge of general ledger, accounting, and healthcare financial practices. Prepare financial analyses and reports including, but not limited to variance analysis reports and other ad-hoc financial reports for presenting to various levels of personnel, from departmental staff to senior management.
Provides analytical support to reconciliation processes for Patient Accounts.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors' degree in Accountancy or Finance and/or a combination of direct work experience and education.
Proven experience with advanced knowledge of accounting and financial management principles, theory and practice including knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) environment.
Experience in summarizing, analyzing and accurately reporting on large volumes of data using multiple systems in a timely manner.
Experience with Decision Support data and knowledge of Lawson and EPIC desired.
Ability to work cooperatively and contractively with other co-workers and administration.
Ability to be flexible in a quick changing environment.
Ability to communicate contractively, tactful and diplomatically with co-workers, management and the general public and demonstrate those abilities to others.
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Ability to interpret policies related to cash handling and internal control and audit guidelines.
Analytical skills to review all available information, draw conclusions, develop reports and evaluate alternatives, select solution and monitor progress.
Knowledge of distribution and received monies within UC System (PBG, CPG, UCDMC, clinics and off campus, other income accounts, Pharmacies, etc..) and how to receive the required documents for finalizing transactions helpful.
Ability to focus on details especially as pertains to reconciliation cash deposited and posted as well as to procedural commonness in the posting process.
Keyboarding skills to effectively operate computer terminal, P.C; work with several financial systems; prepare internal and external correspondence and forms as required. Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet development.
Knowledge of the Lawson to access financial documents track the routing of documents, timelines of documents, and authorizations.
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate in a professional, tactful and effective manner with a broad range of individual styles ranging from staff personnel to upper management.
Advanced spreadsheet skills and ability to analyze, sort and accurately report on large volumes of data in a timely manner
