All residents will have 2 opportunities to publish manuscripts through their longitudinal research project and a writing project (case series/review article).
Residents are provided with an assigned mentor and select an additional mentor to help ensure success during the year.
Over 160 preceptors with >90 different rotation options for you to customize your experience!
Program Specific Information:
This two-year specialty residency training program in Investigational Drugs and research Pharmacy is designed to provide the resident with a wide array of experiences in clinical drug research while affording opportunities for collaboration with renowned clinicians and world-class experts in research, education, and population health. The program is designed to provide a strong clinical foundation while developing analytical, leadership, teaching, and writing skills. The first year is aligned with the UMH PGY-1 program, with elective and longitudinal experiences available in research-related areas. The PGY-2 year provides specialized experiences in clinical research. It will provide training in clinical trial management, investigational drug handling and dispensing, and human subject research regulations and ethics. Upon completion of the program, the resident will be prepared to secure a specialized pharmacist position in a variety of clinical research, regulatory, and drug development settings, including industry, academia, and research pharmacy practice.
Program Purpose:
PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification.
Requirements:
Eligibility for or hold an active pharmacist and controlled substance license in Michigan. Interested candidates must submit the following materials via PhORCAS no later than January 2, 2025:
academic transcripts
three letters of reference in the standard PhORCAS form
letter of intent
curriculum vitae
An interview is required and will be scheduled between late January and early February.
