The Palomar Health PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is based at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, California. Residents completing this program will learn to provide evidence-based pharmacology. Major selling points of the residency are personal attention to foster learning, developing a clinical mindset and an emphasis on becoming pharmacy leaders. Opportunity exists to mature in one’s practice, manage and improve the medication-use process and enhance drug information skills. Residents are required to complete a research project during the year.
The Palomar Health PGY2 Pharmacy Residency is designed to develop the resident's skill as a clinical specialist in infectious diseases. The goal will be to provide the candidate the skill and experience required to lead an antibiotic stewardship program at a community hospital in concordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) core elements and to meet the requirements designated to fill the role as a pharmacist with advanced training in infectious disease. The resident will gain experience and develop best practice in the clinical pharmacy infectious disease and will provide optimal antimicrobial therapy to the patients and community we serve. In addition to daily patient care skills, the resident will develop skills in maintaining the required antimicrobial usage measurements to comply with the CDC core elements and those required by the National Health and Safety Network. The resident will act as a co-chairman for the anti-microbial subcommittee; attend medical staff department meetings, infection control meetings, and related subcommittees.
Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy
Participate in the ASHP Match and submit completed applications using PhORCAS by January 7th, 2025. Complete applications must include the following:

Pharmacist Intern License: Matched residents must possess a California Intern Pharmacist license prior to July 1.
Pharmacist License: Matched residents must obtain a California Pharmacist Licensure within 90 days of the start of the residency program.
