What Health System Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health
Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.
Health System Pharmacy is responsible for providing customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality for hospitals, health systems and other integrated healthcare providers may also consult with and advise healthcare team on prescribed medications, supplies and related processes.
Cardinal Health currently Manages the Pharmacy within the Cumberland Medical Center and we are hiring for a full time Clinical Pharmacy Manager.
Job Summary
The Clinical Pharmacy Manager creates continuing education programs for the pharmacy and/or the hospital, utilizing a multidisciplinary approach. This job also promotes a model of continuous learning through participation in education, consultation, role modeling and research and evaluates medicine utilization patterns with the objective to develop pharma-economic initiatives to improve cost containment. In accordance with regulations, the Clinical Pharmacy Manager, collaborates with other members of the health care team and uses clinical judgment skills to assess, monitor, detect usage of medicines and takes appropriate action to prevent potential physiological complications associated with specific health problems and/or medical treatment. Additionally, this job develops, implements and maintains documentation to record statistics.
Responsibilities
Creates continuing education programs within area of pharmacy and/or hospital, utilizing a multidisciplinary approach and promotes a model of continuous learning through participation in education, consultation, role modeling and research. Development of programs include: Treatment guides, therapeutically exchanges, formulary related programs and other as requested by pharmacy legislation.
Evaluates medicine utilization patterns to develop pharma-economic initiatives with the goal to improve utilization of medicines and cost containment in accordance with regulations, collaborates with other members of the health care team and uses clinical judgment skills to monitor usage of medicines.
Takes appropriate action to prevent potential physiological complications associated with specific health problems and/or medical treatment. Develops implements and maintain documentation to record statistics.
Provides clinical advice to pharmacy personnel to optimize therapies on patients and/or offer cost efficient alternatives.
Qualifications
8-12 years of experience
BA, BS or equivalent experience in related field. Advance Degree preferred
Bachelors degree in pharmacy required, PharmD highly preferred
Board certified Preferred
Residency experience preferred
Active TN license or the ability to get licensed in the state of Tennessee
