The VA SORCC PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program seeks to develop pharmacists’ skills in disease state management, pharmacy operations, and quality improvement. This program aims to maximize, not only the individual skills and talents of each resident, but will assist their growth through diverse clinical scenarios, interdisciplinary collaborations, practical education, and leadership training. Every resident will be afforded the opportunity to offer self-reflection on professional development, enact lasting changes for the betterment of the program, create adaptable solutions and practices, and to use their skills in the care of patients in various practice settings.
The VA SORCC PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program will provide two residents with 52 weeks of clinical patient care experience, serving a challenging and gratifying Veteran population. The residents will work at the White City campus, as well as satellite community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC) in the surrounding rural regions, with a variety of clinical pharmacists with prescriptive authority. The residents will advance to independently practice in various ambulatory clinics such as: PACT/Primary Care, Rural Health, Anticoagulation, Mental Health, Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC), Diabetes, and Pain. Graduates of the program will be prepared to excel in patient safety, formulary management, pharmacy operations, leadership, and informatics.

The Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (SORCC) located in the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon, is the nation’s only freestanding Residential rehabilitation center. This type of care is defined by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) as a, “Residential rehabilitation program that provides short-term rehabilitative and long-term health maintenance care for Veterans who require minimal medical care.” VA SORCC adheres to the Patient-Centered Care Methodologies and Philosophy, and provides safety, shelter, and food in a therapeutic, semi-structured, clean and sober environment.
