The Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research (CPCR) located within the Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit (BPRU) is seeking a Sr. Research Program Supervisor to be responsible for programmatic oversight, supervision, accountable for research staff and resource management.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Provide input into strategic study planning and design, financial and budgetary oversight, and research protocol development.
Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the general BPRU, and monitor staff adherence to protocols, standard operating procedures, and interaction with study participants.
Recommend and oversee resolutions to operational issues. Manage study procedures concerns and/or issues that arise during study visits.
Create and assist staff in the implementation of COVID screening procedures.
Streamline CPCR faculty and staff usage of a central calendar system to improve daily operational efficiency.
Help create and implement safety and emergency guidelines and protocols for participant visits.
Oversee participant recruitment, enrollment, follow-up, related research activities, and provide weekly progress reports.
Oversee regulatory affairs functions including FDA and DEA submissions.
Assist in the preparation of IND, IRB, DSMB, sponsor reports and subcontract documents. Coordinate serious adverse event reporting with study teams to ensure prompt reporting.
Function as liaison between multiple collaborators and disciplines, including physicians, clinic administrative staff, schools, laboratory facilities, and pharmacies.
Schedule, attend, prepare for, and/or conduct a variety of study related meetings to include recurring meetings with staff, leadership, investigators, etc. Provide project updates and status, review reports, address concerns, and highlight successes.
Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of research staff. Submit and monitor new hire requisitions and conduct reference checks.
Supervise and guide research staff, monitor workload, complete 120-day evaluations and annual performance reviews, document performance issues, and notify investigators of staff performance. Work with human resources to resolve disciplinary matters.
Provide support and guidance to the research staff, serve as mediator in disagreements and recommend solutions.
Develop, update, and maintain orientation and training materials. Provide required training to research staff and students as needed. Recommend training to staff and ensure training is kept up to date. Ensure that study staff is compliant with HR, IRB, and other regulatory training and certifications.
Plan and support employees in developmental opportunities in accordance with guidelines provided in the Success Factors Performance Tool. Design internal training events for staff.
Attend training, classes, and events to promote the center and share information, techniques, and tools with staff as applicable.
Ensure that new trials and projects are appropriately resourced with staff, space, equipment, and materials. Perform periodic project assessments and recommend staffing effort changes to ensure studies are adequately staffed, that allocation of effort remains within study budget, and that staff have appropriate funding support.
Review and reconcile monthly BW reports to ensure that equipment and staff charges are applied to the appropriate accounts.
Maintain CPCR organizational chart, email lists, and staff assessment sheet.
Prepare Independent Contractor Agreements and function as liaison between CPCR leadership, contractors, and vendors.
Ensure equipment is properly maintained (e.g., -80 freezers), and place supply orders as necessary.
Oversee CPCR website use and function.
Provide procedural and structural guidance on managing and organizing incoming and outgoing communications.
Consults with the executive committee, communications coordinator, Research Data Specialist, and study teams on best practices to address the large number of incoming requests related to job opportunities, research participation, and partnership opportunities.
Consults and advises with stakeholders outgoing Center communications including responses to general requests (see above), the Center's monthly newsletter, and funder reports.
Work with the JHU Facilities Management department to coordinate CPCR renovations and provide input into space utilization.
Troubleshoot building, maintenance, and space issues, and work with Facilities Management to address and resolve concerns.
Ensure proper office space, keys, badges, phone lines, email, list serves, and other necessary equipment is available for new employees.
Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Three years related experience, with some supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
