Rhode Island Primary Care/Integra offers a unique ambulatory pharmacy residency experience embedded within the Integra accountable care organization (ACO). The resident will work directly with patients in primary care physician offices or clinics. Diverse learning experiences will prepare the resident for a pharmacy career in ambulatory care or academia and the resident will be exposed to an innovative healthcare and ambulatory care model.

The program offers comprehensive experiences in ambulatory care pharmacy practice involving collaborative practice and medication therapy management in a variety of practice settings. These include adult primary care in independent and employed practice models, geriatric care, and transitions of care. Additionally, residents will participate in a population health learning experience that will provide opportunity to develop proficiency in innovative healthcare and pharmacy models as well as quality metrics.   Residents will have the opportunity to select (2) elective learning experiences in academia, geriatrics II, advanced population health, pharmacy administration, quality healthcare, and primary care II. The resident is required to complete a research project throughout the course of the residency program. 

As part of an organization of over 150 primary care providers and specialists and serving more than 150,000 patients across the state of Rhode Island, the resident will have countless opportunities and the residency will be shaped based on resident interests and anticipated career path.

Program Purpose: PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.

Rhode Island Primary Care Physicians Corporation (RIPCPC) is a multi-specialty Independent Practice Association (IPA) of physicians located throughout the State of Rhode Island.
