Summary of Duties:
The laboratory of Bhagwat Prasad is seeking a motivated and multi-talented Research Technologist 3 to join their team in Spokane, WA.
Located in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, this position contributes to the fulfillment of the university's mission and vision by providing support to the Prasad lab in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The successful candidate will have demonstrated wet lab experience, as well as knowledge of laboratory management and safety, along with strong documentation and communication skills.
The laboratory focuses on drug metabolism and disposition research while utilizing various cell culture and molecular biology techniques, animal experiments, translational and clinical proteomics, metabolomics, genomics, and modeling tools.
The projects in the Prasad Lab are interdisciplinary collaborations with partners in academia, clinical settings, and the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
Job Duties:
Job duties will involve Wet Laboratory and Analytical Research (65%), Procurement and Inventory Maintenance (10%), Laboratory Maintenance (10%), and other duties as assigned (5%). Responsibilities for this position may include (but are not limited to):
Under general direction, conducting laboratory and analytical research.
Assisting PI with development, design and implementation of laboratory experiments.
Providing laboratory safety management, including inventory and equipment maintenance, recordkeeping, cleanliness, and organization.
Assisting lab personnel, and collaborators through technical support of laboratory operations.
Writing and archiving lab-specific and common standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as assisting in the writing of research reports, grant proposals, and manuscripts.
Collection of data in support of the study of gene therapy and cancer.
Assisting in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of laboratory and analytical research data.
Providing scheduling, instruction, and training of Research Technologists, Research Interns, temporary student employees, and Pharmacy students.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of technology or science and two years' experience as a Research Technologist, or equivalent;
OR an advanced Degree in an appropriate scientific field;
OR equivalent education/experience.
Additional Requirements:
BS in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or a similar discipline.
Excellent documentation, laboratory, analytical, and quantitative skills.
Prior experience working in a collaborative environment with demonstrated scientific productivity, enthusiasm, motivation, and ability to work independently.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
Quantitative molecular biology or analytical techniques
Quantitative analysis of small molecules or proteins
Experience with mammalian cell culture
Manuscript and protocol writing
Preferred Qualifications:
MS in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or a similar discipline.
At least three years of prior experience as a lab technician or manager.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

Monthly Salary: Range 44, $3,558 to $4,777 A-M | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
