The Clinical Operations and Business Analytics Team (COBA) is expanding and looking for problem solvers who want to drive administrative savings back to patient care and research. COBA is a subdivision of the Dana-Farber Informatics and Analytics department led by the Chief Data and Analytics Officer that is responsible for building a world class analytics environment, enabling measurability and transparency of key institute KPIs for improved decision making.
As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst on the COBA Team, you will be responsible for translating stakeholder specifications into programming logic, creating insight-driving visualizations, and training end users on new reports. You will be tasked with development and maintenance of a wide range of reporting and analytic tools to help evolve and scale a wide range of analytics for Dana-Farber's Cancer Pharmacy Department.
This includes development of accessible, easy to understand and insightful data products that make regular reporting easy, root cause analysis rich and effective, and data outputs actionable. You will also assist in solving operational, clinical, safety and business-related problems and help find solutions using Epic and other pharmacy systems data. On the COBA Team, you will be part of building an analytics Center of Excellence that drives data-driven insights that empowers decision makers to make informed choices and teaches others to apply analysis in ways that improve lives both today and in the future.
These responsibilities require an in-depth understanding of DFCI???s data and data structures. In addition, the COBA Senior BI Analyst role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and educate the analytic community on how to leverage the variety of data sources. The Senior BI Analyst will be expected to help support new projects, function with the support of their manager within a fast-paced environment, work on different projects/tasks concurrently, and serve as a data advisor to stakeholders as new projects or ad hoc reports are developed. Assignments will include complex data analysis projects that can be multi-disciplinary or interdepartmental. The Senior BI Analyst will work with a variety of tools (ex: SQL, Excel, Tableau, etc.) to access data, write queries, develop programming logic, run reports, manipulate data, and analyze datasets to meet the needs of institute. The Senior BI Analyst will also collaborate with the Enterprise Data Warehouse team to address data requirements for analytic reporting, as well as other Informatics and Analytics (I&A) teams with expertise in specific data systems and/or analytical methodologies.

Work in partnership with your manager, your stakeholders, and other analysts in the team to develop quantitative and qualitative reporting for Pharmacy
Independently deliver on multiple common tasks during a Business Intelligence project on time and of high quality.
Develop and translate business requirements into project charters, business and technical requirements, wireframe models, and ultimately produce effective and insightful interactive analytics, in collaboration with other COBA team members
Utilize business intelligence tools to create reports and dashboards
Coordinate the catalog of metrics needed to effectively track and refine various of Pharmacy stakeholder needs, and establish data stewardship and governance of program analytics
Support and deliver projects and conduct custom data analytics solutions for adhoc requests to support decision making
Serve as a critical link between Pharmacy and COBA team to draw on existing definitions and governance of metrics and analytics and ensure data is accessible for reporting
Guide and work collaboratively with the analysts in the team and deliver on multiple common tasks during a business intelligence project on time and of high quality
Lead business requirement gathering and curate useful and specific data to influence strategic decision-making: write queries, run reports, synthesize data, interpret, and explain results of analysis
In collaboration with other team members (COBA and EDW), identify new and existing data sources, build a comprehensive data source for analytics and dashboards, and provide analytics and dashboard related training and ongoing support for enhancements and develop technical data design requirements.
Create beautiful and thoughtful data visualizations using Tableau to accelerate information-to-action at scale (e.g., describing performance of KPI???s for leadership and helping operators on the frontline to make immediate process and performance improvements)
Collaborate with internal teams for QA and ensure the quality of the deliverables
Build, deliver, maintain, and improve analytical solutions iteratively with stakeholder feedback; manage??a backlog of technical issues that require resolution??and communicate to??internal stakeholders
Contribute to development of analytic assets that can be used institute wide.
Foster an institute-wide analytic community of practice by training users and educating analysts, data stewards, business stewards and analytics consumers
Remain open-minded about data exploration, vet work with the support of team members and ensure accuracy of all reports before delivering end-results
Contribute to institute-wide stewardship of data through analysis of existing reports and data sources and discussions with institute leaders
Escalate issues, concerns, and problems which may hinder achievement of deadlines and or/ accomplishments of responsibilities to the attention of the COBA leadership promptly
Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed
Bachelor???s degree in statistics, information technology, mathematics, public health, or related domain. Master???s preferred
3+ years of experience in Analytics or Business Intelligence performing quantitative analysis with at least one year in healthcare or life sciences.
Working knowledge of Epic EMR a plus.
Experience translating business needs into technical requirements to build and transform data into valuable, easy to understand insights
Proficient at writing complex SQL queries that blend data from dozens of sources for analysis, visualization, or reporting
Should have hands on experience building data visualizations (preferably in Tableau) to communicate complex ideas and enable data-driven decision making at all levels of the organization
Should be familiar with analytical tools e.g., R and Python; demonstrated ability to learn technologies quickly through instruction and self-training
Possess ability to function independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
Must have superior interpersonal and communication skills and a history of effectively working and communicating with all levels of internal and external technical and non-technical staff
