UW Medicine’s IT Services department has an outstanding opportunity for an Network Project Manager!
UW Medicine’s Information Technology Services (ITS) department is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Primary Care (UWPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM) and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Children’s University Medical Group and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (a partnership between UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research and Seattle Children’s). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all of these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.
In collaboration with UW Medicine IT Services (‘ITS’) and under the general guidance of the Network and Threat Prevention Manager, the primary focuses of the Network Project Manager are to: Act as a technical project manager for small, medium and large network related projects; Provide analysis of requirements, system design, and user impact needed for operations or project implementations; and Support of processes, standards, and operations of the team through managed of process and compliance review projects. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: Acting as a primary point of contact for assigned network projects; Managing technical aspects of assigned projects; Performing impact analysis and design reviews for changes to UW Medicine networks; Performing design review for new systems requesting services from UW Medicine networks; Managing stakeholder acceptance testing and reviews for network changes; Coordinating technical implementation tasks for assigned projects; Performing technical activities with minimal service interruption; and Managing technical issue resolution with customers and system admins. This position must be able to work independently and within a team environment managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage Long-term Operational Projects (25%) Manage longer term technical projects, such as infrastructure upgrades and new service implementations. Coordinate several technology deliverables with multiple stakeholders. Track as-built network infrastructure and the status of architecture changes. Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and complete projects on time and within budget. Change owner within ITS-CM for UW-IT Networks operations related changes. Manage of impact analysis of project related changes. Communicate outage information to UW Medicine stakeholders and IT teams. Manage Technical Components of Large to Medium Networks Project (25%) Analyze system requirements, design, compliance standard and implementation plan. Initiate missing Network requirements documentation for projects. Manage project technical tasks through go-live, such as charter, scope, planning, scheduling and coordination. Coordinate and ensure successful implementation events and post implementation reviews. Support and follow PMO Process. Manage technology issue resolution with stakeholders and ITS Teams. Assess risk and ensure risks are managed to limit impact on patient care. Change owner within ITS-CM for project related changes. Manage Small Technical Projects (25%) Perform technical management for small departmental system projects. Guide small projects through a standard process for compliance checking and system implementation. Engage owners and admins to document systems. Identify stakeholders and service providers. Document components, requirements, tasks and barriers to completion. Manage small system implementations to operational status as soon as possible. Managing complex issue resolution with customers and system admins where timeline is required. Support ITS-CM for Network and Thread Prevention (20%) Perform impact assessments. Support the completion of all technical processes on behalf of the Network Team for the following: ITS-CAB ITS-PIR Net Infra - Network Technical Change control UWIT ITI–CAB Provide back-up to Technical Support Analyst for Change Communication (emails, reviews, meeting). Perform legacy technology retirement. Support team commuication with Clinical Engineering, Lab Medicine, Pharmacy, OR, ED. Troubleshoot issues and provide information for old implemenations. Other (5%) Participate in all aspects of improving the team, including education/training of other team members and contributing to process/communication improvement initiatives. Work with manager to set professional goals for career development. Act as back-up for other team members and functions, as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience. 5+ years of experience must include: Demonstrated experience in technical project management, including experience with the following: analyzing system requirements, design, compliance standard and implementation plan; managing project technical tasks through go-live, such as charter, scope, planning, scheduling and coordination; and coordinating multi-team implementation events and post implementation reviews. Demonstrated experience supporting multi-tier applications throughout their life cycle - installation, upgrade, and retirement. Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders and system operators of medical systems to assess impact of maintenance or component failures. Demonstrated experience working with users and administrators to identify requirements and resolve technical issues. Strong understanding of TCP/IP and network ports usage. Strong understanding of ITIL and Service Management. Familiarity with Windows and UNIX operating systems, internal/external cloud architecture, desktop and server virtualization, applications, databases, and medical data interfaces. Knowledge of scripting technologies to support testing and implementation for projects. DESIRED
Previous experience in and knowledge of academic healthcare systems and/or operational environments. Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, PhD, etc.) General knowledge of the EPIC EMR system and its support teams within IT Services. Experience using office and database software to collect, combine and organize data to determine impact of changes. Understanding of the security policies within a Medical Care setting and policy compliance. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment. The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed. Must have the ability to meet in person as directed by manager. Because of the physically separated sites for UW Medicine, this position requires the ability to travel to alternative work locations as needed. Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority. Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments. ITS provides services to all UW Medicine organizations – HMC, UWMC-Montlake, UWMC-NW, VMC, UWNC, UWP, SOM, and ALNW.
