Position Summary:
Responsible for cashiering and administrative support in the UCI Medical Center Cashier Office. This includes processing deposits from many locations including, but not limited to, Ambulatory Clinics, Pharmacy locations, Gift Shop, UC Medical Center, Professional Billing Group, satellite Physicians' offices and Parking Services. Duties also include processing payments from patients at window and providing change to departments as needed. This position is responsible for following all Cash Handling Policies and Procedures, maintaining responsibility for the safe handling of cash, check and credit card payments. Periodically rotates cashier desk assignments within the unit and may be assigned to other locations as necessary, based on the operational needs of the organization.
Salary Range:
Hourly Rate Minimum $24.66 Midpoint $30.00 Maximum $35.34
Required Qualifications:
Ability to work independently
All final candidates will be required to successfully complete an FBI fingerprinting process to comply with the University's cash handling policy
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to problem solve, prioritize and organize work
Working knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to interpret and follow established accounting policies, procedures and guidelines
Skill to operate a 10-key calculator with speed and accuracy
Knowledge of bank operations and negotiable payment instructions
Skill in balancing currency, coins, checks and credit card payments.
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot system problems.
Skill in researching problems and determining appropriate action within established guidelines.
Must be able to meet bonding requirements for cashiering functions
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Minimum 3 years previous cash handling, credit union or banking experience
Proficient in handling large amounts or currency, coin
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of BUS-49 Policy and Procedures
Knowledge and experience using Bank of America Merchant Services (BAMS) Client Line website for credit card reporting
Knowledge and understanding of journal entries utilizing Kuali Financial System
