Overview
The System Director is a highly visible, energetic leader, who is a champion and advocate for facility operations for all 3 of Riverside's Divisions – acute, Riverside Medical Group (RMG), and Lifelong Health (LLH). Works through the leadership team to provide administrative oversight and direction in the provision of a comprehensive range of services, or clinical care, associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System (RHS); to include division and system goals or strategic plans.

The System Director is given general guidance and direction and is expected to function with initiative and independent judgment. Initiates continuous Quality Improvement projects on an on-going basis to improve key aspects of service, reducing risk, ensuring sustainability and high reliability. Works to standardize and systematize facility operations programs as appropriate, and continually strengthen both system and local facility operations programs. Collaborates closely with clinical, non-clinical, and provider leadership. Is accessible and responsible to team members and providers. Embraces a team leadership approach to program development, implementation and sustainability.

Utilizing best practices and as a subject matter expert, identifies, develops & implements facility operations training and compliance programs. Provides technical coaching and competency development to local facilities director and staff. Provides a leadership role with onboarding, development and succession planning of facility operations leadership. May temporarily provide local facility operations leadership with any facility leadership vacancies. The System Director is expected to be knowledgeable, competent, able to educate/train, and lead system standardization and compliance efforts for the DNV NIAHO standards, focusing on the physical environment and the utilities management program for acute care and RMG provider based practices. n addition, the System Director is expected to be knowledgeable, competent, able to educate/train, and lead system standardization and compliance efforts for all 3 Riverside divisions as it relates to NFPA life safety and standards, program compliance and relevant building inspections by various regulatory agencies to include, but not limited to EPA, DEQ, Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD), local Fire Departments, OSHA/VOSH, ASHE, ASHRAE, FGI guidelines, and other federal, state and local regulatory bodies. Maintains knowledge of relevant standards, Conditions of Participation, and other regulatory requirements related to facility operations.

Assists developing action plans for deficiency reports by accrediting, deeming authority, or other licensure agencies.The System Director identifies and analyzes best practices, lessons learned, points of failure, deficiencies, gaps, and opportunities for improvement from actual incidents, surveys, inspections, or other sources to educate, eliminate from potential repeated findings or failure, and strengthen the facility operations program across the health system. Leads, directs and/or provides technical expertise with critical investigations and participates in long-term direction of aforementioned programs and policies of RHS. Assists facilities and operations with conducting relevant annual risk assessments. Assists facilities and operations with developing and maintaining 5-year strategic plan for facility operations, in conjunction with relevant strategic plan.

The System Director also works with the RHS Construction Management Department to help ensure that all new construction and renovation projects meet local and State building codes and are Maintenance friendly. This leader is a champion for promoting appropriate design and redundancy of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other utility systems for both new construction and renovations. Oversees the standardization, implementation, and system dashboard reporting for the facility operations computerized maintenance management systems. Responds to emergencies or disasters impacting health system operations as needed. Assists with any resulting response, stabilization, damage assessments, recovery and risk management assistance. Advocates for health system compliance of RHS required policies, procedures, and protocols with vendors, trades, or contractors working throughout the health system including RHS owned or operated properties. The System Director has landscape responsibility for non-RRMC properties that are managed by the Riverside Landscape Department.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelors Degree, Related Field (Required)
• Bachelors Degree, Engineering (Preferred)
• Masters Degree, Engineering required. Will accept experience of 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of Masters Degree
