DESCRIPTION
UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) is growing in the diverse areas of professional educational programs, cutting-edge research, and pharmacy services. Under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Pharmacy Education and under the direction of the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education in the UC San Diego School of Medicine (SOM), the incumbent is responsible for program design, delivery, and administration of pre-matriculation preparation, as well as post-matriculation academic support services for medical and pharmacy students, and curricular support for School of Medicine pre-clerkship faculty and administration. Responsible for developing professional health education programs and providing quality educational experiences for learners. As a recognized expert, leads the most complex strategizing and planning that has critical impact throughout the organization. Leads continuous program improvement efforts to increased educational quality and operational efficiency.Develop and direct classes, including summer courses for underserved students, and/or those with academic deficiency. Independently, develop and present workshops that enrich understanding and increase learning potential in the preclinical courses. Work directly with student pharmacists to provide tutorial assistance to suit their individual academic needs. Act as a liaison with course and department faculty and with staff integral to the operation of the Tutorial Program. Supervise pharmacy and medical students and pharmacy residents responsible for individual sessions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Eleven (11) years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor's degree in related area plus seven (7) years of related experience/training.
Expert knowledge of internal and external policies and regulatory requirements. Expert knowledge of a health professions education program curriculum and requirements. Maintains a deep expertise in health professions education theory and industry best practices. Expert knowledge of an academic and/or health education program curriculum and requirements.
Expert knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and skills to develop and implement processes and systems to highly complex, unprecedented situations in administration and operations.
Highly developed interpersonal skills. Strong diplomacy skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with department, Management, industry leaders and external agencies. Proven ability to advise and influence all levels of leadership and staff.
Highly developed skills and expertise in organizational and project management. Leads teams and directs projects through from inception to completion on schedule. Excellent personal organization skills.
Expert knowledge of current and emerging educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning practices. Expert ability to facilitate educational technology opportunities using technology-based solutions.
Advanced knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program.
Advanced experience developing learning activities and facilitating the material in an academic and/or health environment.
Advanced experience leading the design and implementation of education programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in related area.
