JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This position will conduct laboratory research activities which will include conducting experiments using standard as well as advanced microbiology and molecular biology methodologies, as well as the development and optimization of new experimental protocols. Work with laboratory animals will also be required (training will be provided).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, conduct, and optimization of experiments including DNA and protein isolation techniques and cell culture procedures (include performing periodic checks and procedures on lab animals in the animal facility)
Work independently in the research lab to oversee and perform research work in the laboratory.
Analyze data generated, provide insight through interpretation of data as well as scientific expertise and inputs on planning of experiments related to the assigned research projects.
Prepare reports, manuscripts, and presentations for publication in scientific journals/conferences.
Supervise rotating graduate and pharmacy students conducting research projects.
Train students and other research staff.
Performs material and lab equipment maintenance and management function including ordering and stocking of supplies.
Create thorough documentation of research activities, standard operating procedures as well as lab related safety policies and update them as needed.
Performs other duties as required and necessary.
