Essential Functions: Job Purpose:Provides program support and coordination to the National Institutes of Health funded Chemistry Biology Interface training program at Wayne State University. This program brings together students, faculty, research staff, and other stakeholders from five departments (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, and Physiology), the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics, and 3 colleges (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Pharmacy, and School of Medicine) across campus. This interdisciplinary program provides enhanced advising/mentoring, career/professional development, training in multidisciplinary research, networking across disciplines, support for diversity and inclusion, and community engagement to pre-doctoral students. Reports directly to the Program Director/s. Essential Functions:Tracks and monitors progress of projects, action items and strategies to ensure deadlines, outcomes, and reporting needs are met for division wide projects. Provides functional project support to areas in transition, collects and analyzes data and prepares project materials and various reports. Performs needs and outcomes assessments.Collaborates with internal and external groups to ensure completion of program requirements, reports, surveys and program/project/client intervention agreements. Provides timely and effective project management, facilitation and documentation to support program's continuous improvement efforts.Provides direct support of technical and operational projects, undertakings and initiatives. Coordinates with project and technical leads to develop detailed plans and schedules for the project scope; responds to requests to produce presentations and infographics to illustrate progress on assignments.Employs project management tools to track completion of tasks and achievement of project milestones, and follows up on unresolved matters. Prepares project summary reports for leadership. Tracks, updates and reports on status of project budget and expenditures to ensure projects stay within budget. Assists with the development of short and long-range strategic plans. Prepares projections/forecasts of project expenses in relation to budget categories/line items for review by project leadership. Facilitates the procurement of items for the program/project.Schedules program activities and events (e.g., seminars, symposia, career development activities, advisory meetings, travel arrangements, community outreach activities).Creates and maintains the materials for activities and events. Develops and organizes program recruitment activities (e.g., events, mailings, and outreach). Develops program marketing information and materials (e.g., website, social media, mailings).Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a scientific, business administration, or education related field from an accredited college or university. An advanced degree (Master's, PhD) in a scientific field is desirable. Requires three to four or more years experience coordinating science, technology, engineering or math training programs, preferably in a higher education setting.
