The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Pharmacy seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Finance. The College of Pharmacy sets a national standard of excellence in pharmaceutical research, education, and clinical practice. Founded in 1859, the College is the oldest academic unit of the University of Illinois System. The College is currently ranked 6th in the nation by US News and World Report and consistently ranks in the top 10 in NIH funding. The College is among the top national tier of pharmacy schools for student diversity, faculty publications, patient care and outreach programs, and entrepreneurial endeavors. The position performs essential financial functions and provides critical reporting and financial guidance to the college’s Director of Finance, in support of the college-wide budgetary and financial administration. This college level position is charged with primary responsibility for the financial management of the annual clinical enterprise budget, regulatory compliance and reporting functions for the revenue generating Ambulatory Pharmacy Services (AMB) unit, integrating it into the college financial model. We seek an individual who is forward thinking, technically competent, and independently driven. The individual will work closely with the Director of Finance and will provide strategic financial planning & budgeting, development and updating of standard financial reports, claims reconciliation and analysis, assistance with the creation of and organization adherence to the financial policies and procedures, and ensure regulatory compliance with applicable state, federal, college and university for the Ambulatory Pharmacy Services (AMB) unit. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to promoting the financial well-being of the AMB unit and its seven outpatient pharmacies through budget management, assisting with the development and management of college-wide financial models, coordination of the annual budget process, and analysis of complex data on clinical revenue and expenditures. Qualifications include: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Non-profit Management, Public Administration; Statistics; Economics, Higher Education Administration, STEM discipline or related field required; Master’s/MBA degree highly preferred A minimum of three years’ experience with financial forecasting, enrollment management, and budget planning required. Demonstrable knowledge of generally accepted accounting standards required. Experience in a healthcare environment required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, time management skills and ability to work independently are required. Knowledge and proficiency in academic financial systems, software, and processes (e.g. BANNER or PEOPLE SOFT), advanced Excel SQL, SAS or a similar statistical data management software package, procurement, facilities, state/federal policies/regulations preferred. Skilled in collaborative planning and decision-making, networking, team-building and multi-tasking preferred, strong organizational and leadership skills.
