The Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Carolina (UofSC) is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral research position in natural product drug discovery for neurological diseases using diverse natural sources. Training and experience in the areas of secondary metabolite fractionation and purification (chromatography methods) and structure determination (NMR and MS data interpretation) is strongly preferred. Prior experience in biomedical research with in vitro and in vivo assays is desirable. Responsibilities for the position include carrying out independent research projects mentored by the PI, management of daily lab functions, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. This will be a fulltime position renewable for maximum of two years, renewal will depend on available funds. This position includes health insurance benefits.

Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
The candidate must have a PhD in Microbiology, Pharmacognosy, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline by the appointment start date. Candidates should have a publication record in natural products research and experience on develop of in vitro biological assays.
