Study Courier

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the study courier will work with the study team and is responsible for the pick-up and delivery of critical and time sensitive study products, specimens and other necessary records from the research pharmacy and designated study labs to the study site or the mobile van/field; discretion is important. The courier is a reliable member of the study team with outstanding routing and directional skills and a passion for delivering medical items punctually.

The position is contingent upon availability of grant funding.

Responsibilities

• Take instructions from study staff to transport study products, specimens, and other necessary records or documents to/from the lab/pharmacy, to/from the study site or mobile van/field. (30%)
• Make sure that all required documentation is in place with the study products and specimens transported. (15%)
• Ensure that all specimens, study product or documents are properly secured in the transport bag or container and that the items and samples are transported properly per protocol. (20%)
• Deliver and pick up items to the destination in a time-efficient manner and ensure its safety. (10%)
• Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations. (5%)
• Work flexible hours, as needed. (10%)
• Work independently, exercise initiative, use discretion when handling confidential information. (5%)
• Perform other duties as assigned.(5%)

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months of professional experience
• Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
• Strong organizational, administrative and planning skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and react effectively to urgent situations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work unsupervised with emphasis on punctuality.
• Passionate about healthcare efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in research studies
• Prior experience as a medical or lab courier
