The University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program sponsors two PGY1 pharmacy residency positions with an emphasis in ambulatory care and academia. One resident is based at the University of Wyoming Family Practice Clinic in Casper, Wyoming, and the second resident is based out of the Health Care for the Homeless clinic, also in Casper. The pharmacy residency is a full-time, one-year program starting July 1. Residents will gain experience providing a wide range of pharmacotherapy and educational services to patients, providers, and staff members in primary care settings. The majority of experiences will be conducted in a longitudinal manner with a maximum degree of flexibility and customization to the resident’s needs and interests. The residents are expected to conduct their practice in an independent and responsible manner.
The University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program PGY1 Pharmacy Residency strives to develop excellent pharmacy practitioners and educators. In this program, residents will demonstrate proficiency and responsibility in caring for primary care patients with a wide variety of disease states. The residents will develop new, and enhance existing, pharmacy care services and determine the impact of these services on patient outcomes. The residents will be responsible for promoting the safe and cost-effective use of medications in the clinic. As befits the missions of the clinic and the University, residents will become skilled as educators of health professionals, students, and the public. Throughout all experiences, the residents will acquire the skills necessary for lifelong learning and self-assessment.
