Walgreens Community-based PGY1 Residency Programs
PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program Purpose: To build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop community-based pharmacist practitioners with diverse patient care, leadership, and education skills who are eligible to pursue advanced training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies and professional certifications. The role of the pharmacist is ever changing in our complex health care system. Advanced training through a residency program prepares a pharmacist to provide compassionate patient care for the members of their community, achieve professional goals, and become a leader within the profession while contributing to the advancement of health care. While each residency program at Walgreens is unique, examples of activities that a resident participates in over the course of the residency program year could include: Patient Care
Leadership and Management
Advancing Practice and Improving Patient Care
Teaching, Education and Dissemination of Knowledge
