Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) has over 100 adults Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, divided into Medical, Surgical-Trauma, Neurosurgical, Cardiothoracic and Bone Marrow Transplant ICUs. BUMC provides care for a variety of high acuity critically ill and emergency patients and is designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center and ECMO Center of Excellence.Our PGY2 Critical Care Residents function as integral members of the critical care team in order to acquire practical clinical experience. Through patient data collection and analysis, residents develop the knowledge and skills to provide patient-specific and evidence-based pharmacotherapy while functioning as independent practitioners. In addition, valuable leadership and research skills are developed through participation in code blue response, critical care-related multidisciplinary committees, teaching and completion of a research project.BUMC’s PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency has been ASHP-accredited since 2007. We currently accept one resident each year.

Eligible candidates must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be eligible for Texas pharmacist licensure. Candidates must also be in the process of or have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency.Applicants must also submit:

Our medicine, cardiology, and ICUs often receive patient transfers for higher levels of care, always ensuring our residents see the most interesting cases in the system. We are always looking for additional experiences to add to the program so it can be tailored to your interests.
