The Fry's Pharmacy & Midwestern University College of Pharmacy-Glendale (MWU-CPG) Residency provides an opportunity for the resident to practice closely with pharmacists in community, ambulatory care and academia settings. Collaborative Drug Therapy Agreements allow for the resident to manage the care of patients at the Midwestern University Family Medicine & Dental Clinics. Throughout the year, the resident will participate and become proficient in medication therapy management, diabetes and anticoagulation management, immunizations, wellness screenings, medication synchronization, community outreach and division leadership activities. The residency provides experience in precepting and educating pharmacy students in both small- and large- group settings while participating in the MWU-CPG Clinician Educator’s Program, a formal teaching and learning curriculum. Graduates of this program will be proficient in providing clinical services and trained to be leaders and educators in community, ambulatory care, and academic settings.
This residency is affiliated with Midwestern University College of Pharmacy - Glendale that offers Visiting Instructor Appointment. The resident will have the opportunity to experience the dispensing role in a variety of Fry’s pharmacy settings (high, low volumes, differing demographics). They will have time with a management preceptor to experience management and regulatory aspects of pharmacy. This residency has a strong focus on teaching experiences and allows for growth with interdisciplinary practice. The resident will have ample opportunity to collaborate with medical teams to provide patient care in the Midwestern University Family Medicine Clinic and Dental Institute. Within Fry’s Pharmacy, the resident will gain experience in providing care within the Fry’s clinical programs and have the opportunity to create new programs in the ever-evolving community pharmacy setting.
Candidates will be considered using the following criteria:
Graduate of ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
Eligible to license in Arizona by August 1st (including Arizona Immunization Certificate)
Participation in ASHP Resident Matching Program (National Matching Service)
PhORCAS Application which includes: official academic transcripts, three letters of recommendation (preferred from the following: faculty or preceptor, direct patient care preceptor, other pharmacist), letter of intent, and CV
Upon interview invitation, a Fry’s application and background check will be required

Midwestern University College of Pharmacy-Glendale’s role in the residency program is multifaceted. Residents spend time with preceptors in the Family Medicine Clinic, Dental Clinic, lecturing in small and large group settings, and participating in the Clinician Educator’s Program (a formal teaching and learning curriculum). Residents' learning experiences are longitudinal throughout the course of the year.
