PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Resident

The purpose of this PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized area of practice in infectious diseases. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available. The Infectious Diseases Residency Program (PGY2) is a twelve-month program located at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We recruit for 2 residency positions. This program prepares the residents to become a professional infectious diseases pharmacist through a broad range of learning experiences in advanced areas of infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship. At the University of Minnesota Medical Center, we balance the latest in technology and treatments with patient-centered care. We provide care for a wide range of specialties including, medicine, critical care, transplant-both solid organ and stem cell, and pediatrics. As the core teaching hospital of the University of Minnesota Medical School and College of Pharmacy, our hospital is among the most respected in the nation, providing superior health care results. This program will provide development in clinical and problem solving skills as well as communication, leadership, and teaching in infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship.
