Residency Special Features: 
This ASHP accredited Pharmacy Residency is a 1 year, PGY1 residency, program that offers core and elective rotations in Ambulatory Care, Behavioral Health, Critical Care, Drug Information, Emergency Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Introduction to Pharmacy Informatics, Internal Medicine, Practice Management and Leadership, and others. There are two PGY1 positions. The Pharmacy Resident routinely participates in various hospital committees, clinical initiatives, educational programs, and other leadership and direct patient care projects. They are expected to complete research projects and present their results at national and local pharmacy meetings. There are opportunities for precepting and teaching pharmacy students on clinical rotations as well as the ability to obtain a professional academic teaching certificate from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University. Writing and presentation skills are developed through various assignments and preparation of a publishable manuscript is expected. Educational opportunities including certification in BLS, ACLS, and immunization techniques, as well as involvement in the local Society of Health-System of Pharmacy are activities that the Department covers. Residents will also participate in the system-wide Resident Leadership development forum. Upon completion, the resident will be prepared for leadership roles in independent general clinical practice, academia, or further specialized training.
