PGY2 Pharmacy Residency - Health-System Pharmacy Administration
Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak
Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak offers a 12-month American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited Pharmacy Administration PGY2 Residency program for one resident candidate. The program strives to meet the needs of the resident based on the candidate’s previous PGY1 residency experience, interests, and individual goals. This program provides a combination of required monthly and concurrent longitudinal rotations to provide a robust training program. An individual training plan is created for each resident. All residents complete a research project and present their study results at the Ohio Pharmacy Residency Conference (OPRC) in the Spring. The PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in advanced or specialized practice. The PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration residency provides residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care that improves medication therapy. The PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak prepares candidates for a mid-level pharmacy administration position immediately upon completion of the program, with an eventual position as a director of pharmacy of an academic medical center. The resident will acquire advanced skills in management and development, communication, resource management, fiscal management, regulatory compliance, medication safety, and program development.
