The mission of the Monument Health PGY1 Residency Program is to develop capable, confident, and independent pharmacists equipped with a foundation of knowledge and skills to meet the current and future challenges of pharmacy practice through impactful learning experiences led by experienced and inspirational preceptors in an atmosphere of educational growth, shared respect, and communication. Our PGY1 residency program offers a wide variety of elective rotations that provide a well-rounded experience. Residents can receive a teaching certificate and leadership certificate and have opportunities for publication and multiple presentations. They receive a competitive salary, participate in weekly residency meetings, run the penicillin skin testing service, have a private office space, and work every third weekend in both decentralized and centralized roles. Required rotations include orientation, ambulatory care, critical care, infectious disease, internal medicine, and pediatrics/neonatology and longitudinal drug information, HIV clinic, management, project, and staffing. Electives are available for advanced management, antimicrobial stewardship, cardiology, clinical informatics, emergency medicine, family medicine ambulatory care, home infusion/home care/hospice/pain management, internal medicine II, medication safety, nephrology, oncology, orthopedics/neurology/surgery, research, specialty pharmacy, and surgical ICU/OR and the previously mentioned longitudinal teaching certificate and leadership certificate. Our site offers PGY2 residency programs specializing in critical care and oncology. The Inpatient Pharmacy is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and provides pharmaceutical services across a broad range of patient populations. Decentralized pharmacists are located on inpatient units, and pharmacy satellites provide services to pediatrics, NICU, surgery, procedure areas, the Cancer Care Institute, and infusion services. Additional ambulatory pharmacy services include hospice and home care, dialysis, ambulatory care clinic, specialty pharmacy, HIV Clinic, Family Medicine Residency Medical Clinic, informatics, and retail pharmacy. Requirements: Graduate or candidate for graduation of an ACPE accredited degree program or have FPGEC certificate, eligible for licensure in South Dakota Applications must be submitted through PhORCAS. Required documents: letter of intent, CV, official college transcripts, 3 references. In your letter of intent, please also describe one situation in which you impacted a patient's medication therapy. References should be instructed to provide 2 specific areas of improvement of the candidate. |
