PGY-2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center

Purpose Statement:

PGY2 pharmacy residency training builds upon the foundations of pharmacy practice established during Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency experience. The purpose of the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s PGY-2 oncology pharmacy residency is to prepare pharmacist clinicians for board certification in oncology pharmacy, advanced patient care positions, or academic positions.

About our PGY-2 Program:

The Roswell Park, twelve-month long PGY-2 oncology residency program builds upon the foundations of pharmacy practice from residents' previous experiences through their Pharm.D. education and their PGY-1 residency. Roswell Park's residency prepares future pharmacy leaders through disease-specific rotations designed to allow them to function as an integrated, independent and competent member of a multidisciplinary team. Our residents work directly with physicians who are world-renowned in their specialties. Graduates of our program possess the skills to obtain board certification in oncology pharmacy and for clinical, academic, and leadership roles in pharmacy. 

Roswell Park's residency program is supported by board certified clinical pharmacist preceptors, pharmacy staff and pharmacy administration that values a residency-driven pharmacy department. Required rotations include but are not limited to: Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma, Transplant & Cellular Therapy, Breast Medicine, GI malignancy, Gynecology Malignancy, Genitourinary, Investigational Drug Services, Management, Melanoma & Sarcoma, and Thoracic Medicine. In addition, there are several longitudinal rotations throughout the year. Electives include: critical care in oncology, infectious disease, and advance practice in required rotations. 

Professional development occurs through a major clinical research project, DUE, and a variety of other opportunities, ACPE-accredited CE presentations, preceptoring and teaching through the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Residency experiences are tailored for individual strengths and interests.
