The Nationwide Children’s PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency focuses on training pharmacists in disease state management in a community and ambulatory care setting. Program OverviewThe Department of Pharmacy at Nationwide Children's Hospital continues to expand the services offered in ambulatory care and recognizes the need for a residency program in community care. The vast majority of pharmacy residency programs in existence focus on adult care, while our program is primarily pediatric based. Newly licensed and experienced pharmacists must undergo significant training before they are ready to practice independently in the pediatric setting. Pediatric drug distribution is complex; it encompasses the challenges of adult drug distribution in addition to other intricacies specific to pediatrics.
