AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is located in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. Situated in the heart of America, the area is rich in cultural, sports and entertainment venues. SMMC is a 504-bed, non-profit community hospital specializing in multiple surgical procedures, heart and vascular health, behavioral health and women's health. In addition, the Medical Center features an extensive network of ambulatory clinics and has one of the busiest emergency departments in the area. The hospital is located near two colleges of pharmacy, which allow our staff to be involved in the education of future pharmacists.
The Department of Pharmacy consists of more than 60 associates who provide care to patients via eight satellite pharmacies, 28-bed ICU, 30-bed CCU, one retail pharmacy, an MD Anderson-affiliated cancer center pharmacy, an ED/surgery center pharmacy, and a pharmacist-managed anticoagulation clinc in a large family-practice clinic.
