The Atlantic Health System Post-Graduate Year 2 (PGY-2) Emergency Pharmacy Residency at Morristown Medical Center (MMC) is a twelve-month immersive training program designed to produce independent clinical pharmacy specialists with expertise in emergency pharmacy practice. Morristown Medical Center is a 735 bed community teaching hospital that sees over 90,000 emergency visits per year and is certified as a Level 1 Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons. A total of 8 months of required learning experiences are completed in the Emergency Department at MMC; Orientation/Resuscitation (2 months), Infectious Disease, Academic, Research, Overnight, Toxicology, and Urgent Care. In addition 3 required rotations in Community Emergency Medicine, Surgical/Trauma Critical Care, and Pediatric Intensive Care are completed off-service. One month is allotted for an elective rotation with options to complete learning experiences in Medical Intensive Care, Cardiology, and Transitions of Care. The resident will longitudinally participate in emergency response, clinical research, medical resident education, weekend staffing in the ED at MMC, and pre-hospital medicine. Funding will be provided for travel and attendance at ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting. Atlantic Health System's PGY-2 Emergency Pharmacy program is in candidate status seeking ASHP-accreditation.
Applicants to the Atlantic Health System PGY-2 Emergency Pharmacy Residency Program must meet all of the following criteria:
Received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree program or have Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy
Completed an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency program or one in the ASHP accreditation process prior to the start of the residency year
Be eligible for licensure as a Pharmacist by the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy
Be eligible to participate in the ASHP Match Program
