HonorHealth Pharmacy Services currently offers four positions for a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident. The Residency is designed to provide pharmacists the learning experiences required to accomplish established goals and objectives in accordance with standards established by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) through the Residency Learning Service (RLS) program, which are outlined within the manual. Facility Overview Scottsdale Medical Centers PGY1 Residency is a multi-site program, based primarily out of Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center and Scottsdale Shea Medical Center. Thompson Peak Medical Center serves as a satellite facility, to provide additional opportunities for residency training experiences. Within the HonorHealth Network, other hospitals or clinics may be available to coordinate training of the resident, but will not be considered core rotations. The resident may schedule no more than two rotations outside of the primary training sites, Osborn and Shea. Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center 7400 E Osborn Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251 The Osborn Medical Center, located in downtown Scottsdale, is a full-service acute-care hospital with 337 medical/surgical beds. The hospital's Level I trauma center is consistently one of the busiest in the state and is regarded as a leader in neurosurgery, orthopedics, and rehabilitation. A rooftop helipad HonorHealth Scottsdale Medical Centers accommodates three helicopters and allows for simultaneous multiple helicopter and ambulance arrivals. A Total Joint Replacement Center, specializing in minimally invasive procedures, opened in 2006. Cutting edge/innovative cancer care with Novalis Shaped Beam Surgery, the latest development in stereotactic radiosurgery, is now available in Arizona exclusively at Scottsdale Healthcare. Performed as an outpatient procedure, Novalis can treat localized tumors virtually anywhere in the body or brain, including many deemed inoperable by conventional means. Scottsdale Shea Medical Center 9003 E Shea Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85260 The Shea Medical Center, which opened in 1984, is known for its oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, and women's and children's services. Located near the intersection of Shea Boulevard and Pima Road, the 433-bed hospital's proximity to the Loop 101 Pima Freeway provides convenient access to the hospital from anywhere in the Valley. The Cancer Transplant Institute was created in 2011 to provide comprehensive, personalized care for patients with blood cancers, such as leukemia. The Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center located on the Shea campus combines the strengths of a leading community hospital and academic research in one location. Advanced cancer treatment, prevention, research, education and support are provided, in addition to community-based oncology services. In 2017, expansion of cancer services through partnership with Arizona Center for Cancer Care led to development of the HonorHealth Virginia G. Piper Cancer Care Network. In addition to inpatient cancer care, multiple outpatient cancer care locations will offer improved coordination of care and support for patients and their families on their journey through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Arizona’s first robot-assisted mitral valve repair was performed in March 2003 at Shea Medical Center and the state’s first robot-assisted radical prostate surgery in October 2002.
