PGY2 Pharmacy Residency - Infectious Diseases
Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak
Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak offers an ASHP-accredited twelve-month Infectious Diseases PGY2 Residency program for one residency candidate. Our program strives to meet the needs of the resident based on previous PGY1 residency experience, interests and individual goals. This program provides a combination of required monthly and concurrent longitudinal learning experiences to provide a robust training program. An individual training plan is created for each resident. All residents complete a research project and present their study results at a regional residency conference in the Spring. The PGY2 Infectious Diseases pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in advanced or specialized practice. The PGY2 Infectious Diseases residency provides residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care that improves medication therapy. The PGY2 Infectious Diseases Residency at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak provides the resident with training in diverse areas of infectious disease from four experienced clinical infectious diseases pharmacists. The resident will rotate through a number of core and elective rotations that serve to develop leadership skills and clinical expertise in Infectious Diseases pharmacotherapy. Participation in interdisciplinary committees, interactions with other healthcare providers, along with formal and informal presentations, will help strengthen the resident’s communication skills. The resident will gain teaching experience through student and resident preceptorship and didactic instruction
