The Center for Integrative Health supports health and wellness programs for Duquesne University’s campus and neighboring communities, and facilitates interdisciplinary education and research opportunities for students and faculty. The clinical pharmacist is responsible for delivering direct patient care services, supporting research and grant funded projects, educating student pharmacists and pharmacy practice residents, and maintaining community and campus relations. Direct patient care activities will include the provision of medication therapy management (MTM), point of care testing, immunization delivery, and chronic disease state management programs in the CPC, the community setting and at Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) partner sites. There is also a staffing component at the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD). Work schedule may vary and include some evenings/weekends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs daily patient care activities associated with the Center for Integrative Health.
Provides direct ambulatory patient care services in accordance with state and federal regulations, accepted standards, professional practices and University and School policies. Care services will be provided under approved protocols and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Provides inventory oversight, in collaboration with Laboratory Director and Operations Coordinator, ensuring adequate supplies for programs/events as well as proper storage and maintenance of all supplies and equipment.
Serves as an Outreach Experience preceptor for the Duquesne Residency training programs and preceptor for students on Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences.
Serves as instructor in the Community-Engaged Learning course within the School of Pharmacy and oversees all direct-patient care training, scheduling, and event oversight.
Develops educational programs and materials for internal and external audiences.
Develops and oversees research protocols under the direction of the Director of the Center for Integrative Health and the Manager of the Center for Pharmacy Care.
Ensures all research protocols, policies and procedures are adhered to and data is collected, stored, and accurately entered in a compliant and timely manner.
Collaborates with the Center for Integrative Health team to actively contribute ideas to enhance existing programs and identify new opportunities for growth.
Works with the Center Director and Manager to enhance sustainability of current programs.
Trains new residents, students, and other members of the health care team in conjunction with the Center for Integrative Health Team.
Performs other related job duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
The Clinical Pharmacist must be currently licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy to practice pharmacy and administer injectables in the State of Pennsylvania.
The pharmacist will have completed a PGY1 residency program and a minimum of 5 years’ experience or completion of a PGY2 residency program in ambulatory care.
The position requires demonstrated teaching and research skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Candidates must display initiative to complete tasks independently as well as the skills to work effectively as part of an interprofessional team.
Candidates must also have the skills necessary to provide culturally competent care in underserved practice settings.
Preferred candidates will be trained/certified in Medication Therapy Management, Immunizations, and Diabetes Programs.
