As an Executive Advisor you’ll assist researchers from around the nation. ResDAC is the initial point of contact for any researcher in the public, private and government sectors who is seeking information about accessing and using Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) administrative data to study a broad range of topics such as health outcomes, policy, and economics.
This position requires effective oral and written communication and the ability to work within a diverse environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with curiosity about research and a strong desire to learn new skills.
Specific Responsibilities: •Coordinates and communicates CMS Privacy Board requirements to external researchers. •Works with other ResDAC staff, CMS, CMS contractors, and external researchers to ensure compliance with CMS data release policies and federal regulations. •Manages routine and complex administrative functions related to the review and submission of data requests to CMS.
Typical Tasks: •Works independently to perform administrative review of complex research requests, identifies problems and issues related to the submission, and provides written recommendations to the researcher. (40%) •Investigates and answers request related questions from researchers, which may require consultation with ResDAC staff, other CMS contractors, and CMS. (40%) •Responds to changes in CMS privacy requirements. (5%) •Writes educational documents to assist researchers with data request submissions. (5%) •Develops and delivers webinars on request submission topics. (5%)
•Completes special projects regarding data request matters when assigned. (5%)

•Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience to total six (6) years. •Proficient in Word, Excel, and Power Point. •demonstrated knowledge of research proposal components and research terminology. •Experience drafting, composing, and editing business correspondence. •Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work on multiple tasks concurrently. •Ability to work independently and in a team environment. •Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. •Strong customer service skills. •Knowledge of the US Healthcare system, public health, or health services or epidemiologic research.
Desired Qualifications: •Two or more years of relevant work experience. •Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to develop and present educational resources. •Experience working with an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Privacy Board.
